When couples in Illinois choose to end their marriage, there are a number of different things to consider. If the couple has children, they must sort out child custody and child support matters. In addition, couples must determine how to split their assets. Couples with very valuable assets may find this process more complicated.

Although one would think the divorce between Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa would be full of difficulties, it appears the two are swiftly working through the various matters. Vanessa filed for divorce in December, citing irreconcilable differences, and already three homes worth an estimated $18.8 million have been placed in her name.

While they may have sorted out property division matters with little complication, the couple's vast fortune may be a point of contention. Kobe Bryant is worth about $150 million. Family members say the couple never signed a prenuptial agreement when they married ten years ago. If that is the case, Vanessa could walk away with at least $75 million, as well as alimony and child support for the couple's two daughters.

The couple did release a statement saying that their divorce matters had been resolved privately. Although it appears things have gone relatively smoothly, the couple will need to adjust to their new life apart. Divorce is never easy, even for the rich and famous.

The Bryant's have likely been working with attorneys throughout the process. Anyone in Illinois who has decided to end their marriage would also do well to consult with an experienced divorce attorney. An attorney can help an individual throughout the entire process and work to ensure that an individual's rights are protected.
